12 hours of entreating the Lord Preparation
The fast (drinking water only) begins Friday, at 6:00 a.m. and ends Saturday, at 6:00 a.m.
Our commitment and sincerity is important. The purpose of this fast is to enable us to conquer the flesh and our selfish desires so that we can walk in the Spirit of God; and, to make us sensitive to hear the voice of God so that we can gain the direction we need for our lives. We want to sharpen our expectancy so that when petitioning God we do so with expectancy. God is constantly speaking, so let’s incorporate a fast with our prayers and watch God work!
Biblical examples of fasting:
- Moses fasted to hear from God - Exodus 34:28
- Esther fasted for direction Esther - 4:15-16
- Daniel fasted for understanding & received a vision - Daniel 10:3
- Anna fasted as she served God - Luke 2:36-37
- Jesus fasted - Matthew - 4:1-3
12 hours have been specifically sanctified for entreating the Lord. We are deliberately spending time in prayer with God in a corporate atmosphere. Because our focus is to create an atmosphere for spiritual breakthrough, spiritual revival, and spiritual growth, Satan will use any and all measures to keep us from achieving what God desires for us. Therefore, we need to purpose in our mind that we will rebuke all distractions, hindrances, and excuses. Let Holy Spirit have His way. Dress comfortably and bring your bible, journal, prayer shawl, and or prayer pillow if you have. Water will be available.
“…this kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” (Mark 9:29)
